In Germany Jan studied architecture and engineering followed by a Master of Business Administration with a focus on tourism management. He worked as a researcher and lecturer at different European universities as well as on major real estate projects around Europe and the Middle East. Jan was partner and founding member of the intercultural consultancy Cultelligence in Berlin. He received a scholarship from the EU Science and Technology Fellowship Programme China and was doing research and teaching at the School of Tourism Management of Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou. During his doctoral studies at the International Graduate School of Girona (Spain) Jan investigated the role of contemporary architecture in urban tourism destinations. After two years as a professor at IUBH in Munich since 2014 he is head of the degree programme “Hospitality Management” at DHBW in Ravensburg.

Conny Mayer-Bonde is Professor and Dean of Studies at the Center for Tourism and Hospitality Studies at the Baden-Wüerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW Ravensburg). Her work focuses on service and tourism management as well as marketing and qualitative social research. As a former member of the German Bundestag, she also teaches and researches at the interface between tourism, government and politics. In research projects, she currently deals with the job perspectives of refugees and migrants in tourism companies, hotels and restaurants and topics of tourism politics. In addition, she examines the effects of state regulation and bureaucracy on the tourism industry.
Conny Mayer-Bonde is involved in numerous public, internal and professional committees and has published numerous publications. She has repeatedly contributed expert opinions on current topics in the tourism industry.
She is a member of the senate at the Baden-Wüerttemberg Cooperative State University. Furthermore, Conny Mayer-Bonde is a member of the Advisory Council for Tourism Matters at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy as well as of the Tourism Committee of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHKT). She is also a member of the board of trustees of the Black Forest Music Festival. In 2016 she was appointed by the German Federal President to the National Regulatory Control Council (NKR).
Conny Mayer-Bonde lives with her family in Baiersbronn in the Black Forest.

Dr. Ljudevit Pranić joined University of Split's Faculty of Business, Economics and Tourism in 2007. He earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration/Tourism from Temple University in 2008. Dr. Pranić has worked as a consultant on attractions management and hotel marketing. Ljudevit is highly proficient in both Croatian and English. His primary research interests in tourism involve strategy, human resources, sustainable development, destination management, and operational aspects of hospitality.

Paulo Manuel Guerreiro Carrança has a degree in tourism from the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (IPVC).


He is the Coordinator of Studies and Projects for the Entrepreneur Support Network (GEP / GAE) of Porto and Northern Portugal Tourism (TPNP) - Regional Tourism Entity, since 2014; coordinator of the Technical Secretariat of the Nature Tourism Consortium "NORTE NATURAL", representing TPNP, E.R., since 2015; member of the Board of Directors of the Gil Eannes Foundation, since 2010; member of the Board of Directors of Vianafestas, promoter of several events in Viana do Castelo and Alto Minho region, since 2017; member of the Committee of the Feast of Our Lady of Agony, of the Medieval Fair of Viana do Castelo and of the International Folklore Festival of Alto Minho (since 2017); and member of the Board of the Confraternity of Gastronomes of Minho (since 2011).

Assistant professor at School of Technology and Management (ESTG), of Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (IPVC), responsible for teaching the "Principles of Tourism" and "Tourism Itineraries and Programmes" curricular units in Tourism Degree, since 2015. He has the Specialist Title, by IPVC (2017).

Joaquim Majó is Dean of the Faculty of Tourism at the University of Girona. University Professor in the area of Business Organization. He is a Computer Engineer and Doctor from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.

Since 1993 he has been a professor at the Official School of Tourism of the Government of Catalonia, which has evolved into the current Faculty of Tourism of the University of Girona. His teaching revolves around ICT and how they are applied to the management of tourism and its companies.

In research he is specialized in the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the tourism sector. He has published numerous articles in magazines and conferences on the impact of ICT on tourism.

He has been coordinator of studies and director of the University School of Tourism of the UdG and more recently Vice-rector of Technological Development and Institutional Relations of the University of Girona. He is currently Degano from the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Girona.

Andrea Pozzi is contract professor of Marketing and research fellow in Business economics and management at the University of Bergamo. His main fields of research is gastronomy and cultural tourism. He is ad-hoc reviewer for Tourism Review and Current Issue in Tourism. He is also PhD student at the University of Balearic Island (Spain). Previously, he worked as project manager in EU co-funded projects in regional bodies.

Prof. Dr. Carsten Brehm has been teaching for the DHBW Ravensburg since 2005 and since 2011 he has also been professor for the DHBW master programs at the Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) in Heilbronn, Germany. At CAS, he is leading the MBA master study program as HoD. At the DHBW he is involved in numerous initiatives such as the professorship appointment commission at the study center, the development of policy guidelines and mission statements, or the co-leading of the center of empiric management research (ZEM). Carsten’s expert knowledge is focused on the fields of business management, governance, organization and added value management. His expertise is complemented by behavioral scientific subject areas like change management or organizational psychology. Both fields merge in interactive teaching courses like management simulation and simulation games. Teaching and mentoring for years in the study program of hotel and gastronomy management he has acquired sector-specific knowledge in the tourism industry.

Marion Arnemann-Mangold had been studying architecture at the Technical University in Munich, when in 2004 she decided to pause her architecture studies for a DHBW study program in Hotel Management. This study time not only broadened her horizon and enriched her with valuable capacities she would benefit from in her future career but also taught her to organize herself to resume her architecture studies in a very structured and target-oriented manner after her DHBW graduation.

The DETAIL and SAMSUNG scholarship holder took advantage of the interdisciplinary skills and knowledge she had acquired and successfully pursued her passion for hotel- and commercial architecture and product design in various architecture offices and construction institutes. Today, she is managing conception and projects of DETAIL BUSINESS INFORMATION GMBH, the leading German professional information and publishing company for international architecture documentation.

Since the beginning of 2019, Marion has been sharing her expertise and experience as an external tutor at the DHBW in Ravensburg.

Prof. Dr. Manfred Schertler-Rock is tutor for the DHBW Ravensburg in the subject area of controlling and business administration with main focus on quantitative methodology. In his function as DHBW‘s coordinator for simulation games he is continuously keeping up to date with the latest developments in this field by attending courses and seminars to ensure the most current state of the portfolio in regards to management simulation. He originally developed this expertise as a technical consultant for the simulation game General Management at the faculty for economics and socioscientific studies of the Friedrich-Alexander-University in Erlangen-Nuremberg. One of the particular characteristics of this annual game was the extent of participation: 32 companies were competing during the course of one week in a total of eight virtual nations.

Stefanie Maurus has joined the International Office of the DHBW Ravensburg (part of Baden Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University) - in 2017 and – being a DHBW alumna and convinced of the cooperative learning system - has been coordinating the Income Tourism project with great enthusiasm. After her studies of International Marketing at the DHBW, Stefanie worked for KaVo Dental, a leading global dental company, as project manager for the company-wide restructuring of CRM and communication before developing a new market segment as a National Sales and Product Manager for KaVo America Corporation / Danaher Corporation in the United States for many years. Getting to know the “other side” of the DHBW when resuming her career in Germany after a baby break was an interesting turn of perspectives for her.

Thomas Schieber is the Director of the International Office at the DHBW in Ravensburg. For more than 20 years, he has been developing, expanding and leading the internationalization process at DHBW Ravensburg - BadenWuerttemberg Cooperative State University. He is enthusiastic and passionate about being a part of international network projects within higher education. Originally, Thomas joined the DHBW in 1997 as a Director of Public Relations, following his career as a Division Manager for marketing & PR at AOK, one of the largest German Health Care Providers. His passion for sports as a player for the semi-professional Constance handball team combined with his skill for writing had incipiently opened the door to PR and sports journalism after his studies at the University of Constance.

Dr. John Ebejer is Senior Lecturer at the Institute for Tourism, Travel and Culture of the University of Malta. He authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters mostly on the subjects of tourism, historic areas and urban regeneration. He authored the book Tourism in European Cities: The visitor experience of architecture, urban spaces and city attractions which is due for publication in the coming months. Before dedicating himself full-time to academia, he worked for many years as an architect, urban planner and tourism consultant. Dr. Ebejer holds a first degree in architecture from the University of Malta, a Masters degree in urban planning from the University of Sheffield and a Doctorate in tourism studies from the University of Westminster.
